This guide explains how to forget a USB Audio Accessory (like a USB-C connected headphone device) on your iPad using the provided images, so you can reconnect them and have your iPad recognize them again.

How to Forget USB Audio Accessories

This process is completed within the Sounds settings menu on your iPad.

1. Navigate to Sounds Settings

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPad.

  2. In the left-hand column, scroll down and tap Sounds.

2. Access Headphone Safety

  1. After tapping Sounds, look under the HEADPHONES section in the right-hand panel.

  2. Tap Headphone Safety.

3. Find USB Audio Accessories

  1. Once you are in the Headphone Safety menu, tap USB Audio Accessories at the bottom of the list.

4. Forget the Device

  1. In the USB Audio Accessories menu, you will see the currently connected accessory (e.g., "Connected To Headphones").

  2. Tap Forget All USB Audio Accessories.

5. Reconnect Your Headphones

After performing these steps, you can try reconnecting your USB-C headphones to your iPad. The iPad should now attempt to re-recognize the device as if it were being connected for the first time. And you can choose Headphones from the pop up.
